We have only indoor kennels and runs at Phoenix Animal Hospital. The facility is air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. Below are a few items you need to understand before committing to a reservation. We try to ensure that our clients know how our boarding works in advance in order to make it as positive an experience as possible. Please also note that we are currently not accepting new boarding clients due to limited spacing.
If you have not seen our facility, we would be happy to give you a tour of the hospital and kennels.
"All boarding kennels are indoors with seasonal air conditioning or heat. We have runs for the larger dogs and a variety of cage sizes for the smaller pets. Cats are kept in a separate room from the dogs."
How are fees determined?
Overnight boarding fees are based upon species and weight taken at drop off. Weight estimates by the client when a reservation is made are not binding.
All vaccines must be current and verifiable. Verification must be through our hospital records or by documentation provided by another veterinarian. If vaccines are not up to date, treatment will be done at client's expense. Canine vaccines required are Rabies, Bordetella and Distemper/Parvo (DHPP). Feline vaccines required are Rabies and Distemper (FVRCP).
Drop off and pickup times?
Weekday drop off and pickup times are 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, except on Thursdays when we are open until 8:00 PM.
When available, weekend drop off or pickup times are limited to 5:30 PM on Sunday. As we are not open for routine business with normal staffing on the weekend, drop offs and pickups must be scheduled in advance.
There will be no drop offs or pickups on holidays.
What can you bring?
Any items brought for your pet must be safe for use in an enclosed area. You are asked to limit items that you bring to a single toy, blanket, etc. It cannot be guaranteed that items will be returned in their original condition.
We feed "Science Diet Sensitive Stomach" to try to avoid gastrointestinal problems while boarding. Note that you may bring your own food if desired and we will make every attempt to approximate your home feeding schedule and amount. (No extra charge). If your pet refuses all food, we may have to tempt it with a special diet, for which there would be a small charge.
You must agree to pay for all reasonable veterinary services while your pet is here. We will make every effort to contact you about any health issues with your pet.
An occasional pet may get diarrhea due to a change in routine or environment. In such a case, we will administer an anti-diarrheal medication.
If your pet is on a medication that either you have brought, or that we have had to start, there will be a $2.00 per day medication fee assessed.
If fleas are found on your pet, a single Capstar will be administered and assessed.
During the week, all pets are allowed to take care of business outside three times daily. On weekends, they will be taken out early AM and then again early evening for as long as necessary. When they are outside, pets are always leashed with (2) slip leashes. Many owners' pet collars are too loose and cannot be depended upon for complete security.
During drop off you will be asked if you would like your pet to have a bath the day of pick up (a weekend pick up bath would be done the preceding workday). The options are:
- Full-Service bath which includes shampoo, nail trim, ear cleaning, and anal sac emptying. Cost is based on species and weight.
- Clean-Up bath which includes shampoo, rinse and dry to get ready to go home. Cost is one night's boarding.
- Note that should your pet soil itself while boarding with us, we may have to charge a clean-up bath. This keeps your pet and our facility clean.
